RAJOURI, NOVEMBER 10: Under the supervision of District Development Commissioner, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary Beti Bachao Bat Padhao awareness programme was organised here at today in the premises of Himalayan Education Mission.
Member Legislative Council, Vibod Gupta was chief guest and Muslim Wani was guest of honour on the occasion. Mohd Azam Shah presided over the function.
Speaking on the occasion, MLC Vibod Gupta stressed on strict enforcement of PCPNDT Act, check over misuse of technology, arresting drop out of girls and other issues that create hurdles in the overall development and progress of girls.
The programme was organized under the supervision of Nodal Officer of the BBBP scheme, Dr. Abdul Khabir (District Social Welfare Officer) in collaboration with song and drama division of Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Various troupes took part in the programme including Nagani Cultural troupe, Sarswati Sammelan and Sangam Sangeet Kala Kendra.
Concern was expressed over declining sex ratio in the district since Rajouri district figures in the list of 161 districts across the country having dismal sex ratio.
A pledge was taken to provide equal opportunity to girls so that dream of gender neutral society gets achieved.
Pertinently, district administration has launched a targeted campaign across the district and awareness programmes are regularly being organized in educational institutions and at Panchayat level in addition to door-to-door campaigns by officials of Social Welfare and Health departments to sensitise the rural masses about impending affects of declining sex ratio.

Other dignitaries present included Rashid Choudhary, PO ICDS, Farooq Muztar, founder patron HEM, Dr. Saleem Wani, CDPO Manjakote, Rajinder Gupta, Ashwani Kochar and girl students and staff members of HEM.
