KUPWARA, NOVEMBER 08: District Development Commissioner
Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today convened a meeting of officers and engineers to
review the action plan regarding winter preparedness, snow clearance and stock
and supply position of food grains in the district.
The meeting was informed that men and machinery have been kept ready to
meet any eventuality during winter months.
It was given out that a joint control room at district headquarter is
being established and snow clearance machines have been kept in a position of
readiness. The MED has been entrusted to clear 541 Kms with 11 available snow
ploughs besides 39 Kms town roads. The R&B is given the target to clear
snow from 598.92 kms, asked to gear up their field agencies and establish a
control room at MED headquarter at Bomhama for help the general public with
contact number 7051598206(AEE MED).
It was given out that FCS and CA department has completed 100% winter
stocking in border areas, while requirements are being met out for 85 locations
up to November 15th in snowbound areas. The health
department has made available 78 ambulances for meeting any eventuality.
The District Development Commissioner directed the PHE, PDD authorities
for creating a dependable mechanism to ensure services as per the schedule. The
health department was directed to ensure proper sanitation measures in and
around the health institutions and adequate stock of medicines and maintenance
of different kinds of medicines for the winter months. He sought close
coordination among different departments for snow clearance operation and
prompt response to meet out any emergency during approaching months.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner Pir Muzafer Hussian, Assistant
Commissioner Revenue besides concerned officers of essential services were
present in the meeting.
