UDHAMPUR, NOVEMBER -16:- District
Development Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar, chaired a meeting of officers and
representatives of civil Society to take stock of implementation of flag ship
programme 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao'(BBBP) here today
During the meeting, representatives of civil society shared their views
regarding various perspectives which a girl child faces for her survival and
existence. Further, they shared the valuable teachings in concern to their
religion which are provided in their culture for good will of girl child. They
all together took pledge to celebrate the birth of girl child in their
community, make people aware about ill effects of early marriage, female foeticide
and encourage anti dowry marriages.
While speaking on the occasion, Ravinder Kumar appealed the people to
ensure that their girl child gets equal opportunities of growth and
development. He asked the officers to make sure that the scheme is implemented
in the district in letter and spirit.
Later, Nodal officer 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Rachna Sharma briefed about BBBP.
Among
others, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Subash Chander Dogra, Chief Planning
officer, Ashok Khajuria,Tehsildar Udhampur Javed Iqbal Rather and
representatives of civil society were present.
