New Delhi, Nov 27: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on
Monday extended his greetings to Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani for the Gujarat
Assembly elections.
Minutes after the Dalit leader on Monday
announced to contest as an Independent candidate in the upcoming Gujarat
Assembly polls, Mr Kejriwal took to twitter to wish him.
"Best wishes Jignesh," Mr Kejriwal said by retweeting the Dalit leader's post which stated that he would contest as an Independent candidate in Gujarat Assembly polls.
Earlier, Mr Mevani in a tweet said, "Friends, I am contesting from Vadgam-11 seat of Banaskantha district of Gujarat as an independent candidate. We shall fight, we shall win."
On Sunday, Mr Kejriwal hit out at the ruling BJP Government and asked people of the state to vote for any party which they think can defeat BJP.
"I appeal to the people of Gujarat, the day you go to exercise your right, vote for a candidate or a party who can defeat BJP. Our main goal is to defeat BJP," the AAP convenor stated.
He also said if they feel that AAP candidates are winning in some constituency, they should vote his party but not BJP.
AAP has fielded few candidates for the upcoming polls in the state, slated to be held in two phases on December 9 and 14. Results to be out on December 18. UNI
