Poonch, November 02: One day workshop on ‘Water
Management for Sustainable Development & sanitation program was organized
here today under the aegis of district water sanitation mission Poonch. The
workshop was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch,
Tariq Ahmad Zargar, who is also chairman of district water and sanitation
mission.
The workshop attracted a large number of people from all walks of life
and attended by officers, officials, frontline field functionaries of ICDS,
IWMP, Medical & health education, PHE, agriculture and ground water
departments.
In his address, District Development Commissioner said that the aim of
the programme is to generate awareness among the general public about the
importance of conservation, preservation and judicious use of water. “The demand
of water is increasing every year but resources are shrinking”, Zargar
said and urged upon the participants to use all innovative water conservation
solutions and methods and sensitize the common man regarding judicious use of
water.
The DC said that such type of workshops should be made a regular feature
to sensitize the people on such important issue.
Others speakers highlighted the role of Anganwari &
ASHA workers in educating the people at the grassroots level for saving this
precious gift of nature which has no substitute.
