New Delhi, Nov 27: The Supreme Court on Monday declined to interfere with the petition filed by
37-year-old, Amrutha, claiming to be the daughter of Tamil Nadu's former Chief Minister,
late J Jayalalithaa.
The apex court, however, asked the petitioner's
lawyer, if she wants, she can approach a High Court.
The SC refused to admit the petition of Amrutha, who wanted a DNA test and sought exhumation of Jayalalithaa's body for the test.
Amrutha claimed that she was brought up in Bengaluru by Jayalalithaa's elder sister Shylaja and her husband Sarathy. Sarathy reportedly told her that she was Jayalalithaa’s daughter just before his death in March.
Indira Jaising, senior Supreme Court lawyer appearing for the petitioner (Amrutha) told the apex court division bench that the petition was filed under stressful circumstances.
A two-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Madan Bhimrao Lokur and also comprising Justice Deepak Gupta was hearing the submissions and arguments by Ms Jaising.
After hearing the plea filed by Amrutha, the apex court said, "we are not going to interfere with the petition. You can go to any High Court for relief, " while refusing to entertain her prayer. UNI
