Srinagar, Nov 17: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Friday said mothers
impassioned appeal helped an aspiring footballer-turned-militant Majid Khan
back home as every time a youngster resort to violence it is the family which
suffers the most.
However, she said the government was committed to a rehabilitation policy that secures their future and ensures that they are not harassed. Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Ms Mufti said, “A mothers love prevailed. Her impassioned appeal helped in getting Majid, an aspiring footballer back home. “Every time a youngster resorts to violence, it is his family which suffers the most." The Chief Minister said, “I understand the predicament of young boys who have strayed into militancy. Most realise the futility of senseless violence & want to return home and live normal lives with dignity. But the choice to renounce violence is not an easy one and they find themselves between the devil and the deep blue sea. The fear of social stigma clouds their judgement.” “My government is committed towards a rehabilitation policy that secures their future and ensures that they are not harassed." Surprisingly, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir range, Muneer Ahmad Khan was quoted by local media that Majid has not surrendered nor arrested. UNI
