New Delhi, Nov 18: Terming 'baseless' the reports of postponement of release of the Deepika Padukone- Ranveer Singh release 'Padmavati ', its makers have said the release of the film will be on December 1 as scheduled.
'Rumours of postponement of Padmavati are baseless,' Ajit Andhare, the CEO of Viacom 18 pictures, producers of the film, said on social media. In a series of tweets, Andhare, whose company has co produced Padmavati with Bhansali Productions and will distribute the film in India, said they were willing to screen the film for sections who felt aggrieved.'Can screen to responsible individuals who feel aggrieved, please come, see it yourself, nothing to hide, put an end to this saga. Let's celebrate our heritage.'We can do it tomorrow itself. We want them to stand with us, support the film, it celebrates Rajput pride. We have been saying from beginning...film just finished few days back.'The clarification by the makers comes amid reports that the release of Padmavati was likely to be pushed ahead in view of the forthcoming elections in Gujarat, over alleged “distortion of facts”.The movie is embroiled in a controversy as some Hindu groups and political parties claim that the film wrongly portrays Rajput queen Padmavati.Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has repeatedly denied the charges made by those opposing the film. Andhare also thanked the Maharashtra government for providing security to Bhansali and Deepika in the wake of threats received by them.'We must appreciate that government has really gone out of the way to provide security to Sanjay & Deepika. Thanks @smritiirani @Dev_Fadnav,' Andhare said. UNI
