Delhi, Nov 4: As it completes 50 years of its existence, which has seen it
provide access to quality healthcare, education and livelihood for the disabled
in the country, International Organisation CBM India believes that all
organisations and every citizen have to put in their efforts and involvement to
ensure a prosperous life for people with disabilities.
“The fight against disability cannot be carried out by one person or organisation. In this fight, every organisation and every person with disabilities have to put in their efforts and involvement to ensure a bright future for people with disabilities,' National Director and Managing trustee of CBM Sara Varughese told here.
Talking about the vision of CBM, Ms Varughese, on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, said, 'Our motive is to spread awareness about the problems of people with disabilities as also understand the mental attitude of these people to enable them to achieve their objective in their life. We help make them realise that they have to participate in the society. Their requirement is essential for the growth of our country.'
Talking about education in the government schools for the physically challenged, she said,'Today, the government schools are providing admission to the physically challenged students but the teachers in the government schools don’t know how to teach them.So we ensure that the government helps them to know how to teach the students with disabilities.'
The Director of CBM also appreciated the initiatives that government has taken for the welfare for people with disabilities.
Officials of the CBM India stressed the need to remove the mentality of people in the rural area that there is no use of the girls with disabilities in the society.
'We have to overcome this logic because it has already taken many lives in our country,' Ms Varughese said.
Over the years, the organisation has benefited a substantial amount of people with disabilities and is working in 25 states in India. UNI
