Agartala, Nov 13: A two- day session of 11th Tripura assembly, considered being the last sitting of the present house began today amid high political tension.
Though six Trinamool Congress MLAs led by Sudip Roybarman joined BJP about four months ago, yet the Speaker did not recognise them as BJP members due to difficulties as per the provision mandated in procedure of business and conduct of the assembly. “The MLAs put their claimed seeking recognition as BJP members at the eleventh hour but the law prevented me to recognise them. However, it doesn’t matter from which party they belong, as they are performing as opposition members,” said Speaker R C Debnath. He said this is the 15th session of the present assembly and business advisory committee has proposed to hold the session for two days considering the business of the government to be transacted in the house. However, leader of the opposition parties (BJP and Congress) D C Hrangkhwal alleged that there were several issues to be discussed in the house but the ruling party did not allow it just to avoid embarrassment. There is no scope of elaborate discussion of large scale violence, deteriorating law and order situation, motivated police investigation into the serious crimes that resulted acquittal of the accused, loss of agriculture, job scam, massive unemployment and many more due to shortage of time in the assembly. “The last session used to be review of the state government performance and the compliance of election manifesto of the ruling party but this time leftists did not give any scope to the opposition to suppress their failure,” Hrangkhwal added.  UNI
