Hyderabad,
Nov 4: A prestigious International Conference on Urban Mobility, which is
being attended by delegates from 36 countries, was inaugurated at an impressive
function by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu at Hyderabad International
Convention Centre (HICC), here today.
Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali was among the dignitaries who
attended the inaugural session.
The three-day conference will discuss road safety, transit-oriented development and introduction of train services in Hyderabad. The authorities of the host city will also have an opportunity of learning from the experts of 86 countries assembled from different parts of the world.
Case studies of foreign cities including Boudeau and Lyan (France), Lausannes (Switzerland), Lisbon (Portugal), Gaudalajara (Mexico), Curitiba (Brazil), Cape Town (South Africa), Santiago (Chile) and Constantine (Algeria) among others will be discussed.
Indian case studies pertaining to several cities in the country besides transport planning for Maha Kumbh Mela in Allahabad to be held in 2019 will also be presented. Nine leading transport technology and service providers will display the latest technologies for better roads.
Two special sessions for Mayors and Mnicipal Councillors from five southern cities will also be convened as part of the conference being attended by 1,000 delegates including 150 experts. UNI
