Srinagar, Dec 1: Taking a serious note of the dismal performance of the students of Girls High
School (GHS) Shalabugh, Ganderbal in recent 8th Class examinations, five
teachers of the school were placed under suspension, an official spokesman said on Friday evening.
He said the Director School Education Kashmir, Dr G N Itoo had asked the
concerned Chief Education Officer (CEO) to initiate immediate disciplinary
action against the teachers of the institution.Following the directions of the DSEK, the CEO Ganderbal has placed five teachers of the school under suspension and has ordered withdrawal of increment for the year 2016-17 in respect of six other teachers of the institution.
“The action has been taken to ensure accountability of the teachers,” Dr Itoo said.
Meanwhile, Director Education said continuing with its career counselling initiative, a special programme will be telecast on Doordarshan Kashmir on December 3, 2017. He said on December 5 2017, career counselling programme would be organised by DSEK as per schedule at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kothibagh, Srinagar.
He said a similar career counselling programme was successfully organised at Girls Higher Secondary School Nowhatta, Srinagar recently.
He said the DSEK will be also organizing special capacity building training in Kashmir division for teachers during the winter vacations. “The State Institute of Education has been asked to arrange for the training of the teachers during winter vacations,” he said. UNI
