4: The
District Development Commission (DDC) Kulgam, Talat Parvez Rohella today
inaugurated a daylong
employment fair at Kulgam.
The employment fair was organised by the District Employment
and Counselling Centre Kulgam in collaboration with Labour Department. Various
private and public sector undertakings including corporates involved in the
implementation of UDAAN scheme, besides line
departments participated in the fair.
On the occasion, the DDC visited the
stalls established by departments including agriculture, sericulture,
floriculture, handloom, handicrafts, industries, EDI, and banking institutions.
The officers apprised the DDC about the self-employment schemes implemented by
the corresponding departments.
He also interacted with the
representatives from various corporate houses who apprised the DDC about the
procedures and the employment avenues for the educated unemployed youth.
Later, addressing the gathering of
the youth, who participated in the fair, the DDC said that unemployed youth
must take advantage of the employment fair and get themselves registered in
various schemes. Meanwhile, he praised the department for organising the
employment fair and expected more such fairs in coming months.
He stressed upon the youth to come
forward and take the benefits from the employment generating schemes devised by
the government. He said self-employment is the only way to tackle the
unemployment problem. Meanwhile, he asked bankers to speed up the disposal of
pending cases so that
unemployed youth could avail timely benefits of different schemes.
The DDC said that under UDAAN,
registered youth who want to get employed are provided requisite training so
that their employability is enhanced.
Additional Deputy Commissioner
Kulgam, Principal Government Degree College, Kulgam, Assistant Director
District Employment and Counseling Center, District Officers, Bankers and youth
participated in the job fair.
