Lucknow, Dec 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited all the newly-elected BJP mayors along with the Amethi Nagar Panchayat chairperson to New
Delhi tomorrow to meet him in person.
BJP sources here on Monday said the newly-elected mayors
along with the Amethi nagar panchayat chairperson Chandrama Devi will meet the Prime Minister at
his official residence on Tuesday morning.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is also expected to be present along with state BJP president Mahendra Nath Pandey during Mr Modi's meeting with the Mayors.
However, invitation given to BJP Amethi Nagar Panchayat chairperson gains importance for the party in the Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's parliamentary constituency.
Having won as an Independent for two terms, Ms Chandrama joined BJP in 2014 after coming in contact with Smriti Irani.
Mr Gandhi's parliamentary constituency Amethi comprises Gauriganj and Jais municipal boards and Amethi and Musafirkhana nagar panchyats.
Congress drew a blank in the urban local bodies in Amethi, though the party leaders claimed that they have not given any candidates and just supported some Independents. UNI
