New Delhi, Dec : The Border Security Force (BSF) seized 55 packets of contraband, suspected to be heroin, weighing around 55 kg, from the Border Out Post (BOP) area at Rosse, Gurdaspur in Punjab on Wednesday.
Sources said the night domination patrol sensed some suspicious movement ahead of fence this evening, at around 1830 hrs. When challenged, the intruders fired small arms on BSF, which was retaliated. After a brief exchange of fire, the intruders fled back.
Troops involved in the operation reported that there were three persons with some head load and a plastic pipe. One of them got injured during encounter, but his accomplices took him back across the IB.
The area is cordoned off. In initial search, 55 packets of contraband, a plastic pipe and two pistols have been recovered. Search is still in progress in the said area, the sources added.
