Delhi, Dec 22: The controversial remarks from Prime Minister Narendra Modi
about his predecessor Dr Manmohan Singh during election campaign in Gujarat
continue to figure prominently in the Lok Sabha on Friday with the Congress
members sticking to their demand for an apology from Mr Modi.
As soon as the House assembled to begin day's business,
several Congress members were up on their feet while floor leader Mallikarjun
Kharge was seen seeking Speaker Sumitra Mahajan's permission to make his point
on the issue. The Speaker disallowed taking up the issue and called out members name to commence with the Question Hour.
She also read out a brief statement complimenting Indian contingent for their successful show at the Asian Youth Para Games held in Dubai.
India bagged a total of 17 gold, 14 silver and 13 bronze medals to take the final tally to 44 medals.
Congress members, including K C Venugopal, Sushmita Dev, Rajeev Jatav, Abhijeet Mukherjee, Adhir Chaudhary and others soon rushed to the well of the House raising slogans like 'Maafi Mango (Ask for apology)' and 'Jhoota bayan band karo (Stop making baseless allegation)'.
The agitating Congress members also referred to the CBI court order on Thursday that had acquitted DMK leaders Kanimozhi and A Raja and all others in the high-profile 2G spectrum allocation scam.
"2G case ka kya hua (What happened to the 2G case)," the Congress members raised slogan at one point of time even as the House took up the listed question pertaining to the Ministries of Health, Environment and Forest and Finance.
The disruption by Congress members over the Prime Minister's remarks on Dr Singh has been continuing for last five days as they are insisting that Mr Modi should tender an apology.
Talks between the ruling side and opposition Congress on Tuesday to end the deadlock have failed and the BJP has rejected Congress' demand for an apology from the Prime Minister saying he did not say anything wrong. UNI
