Srinagar, Dec 4: An encounter has ensued after militants attacked an Army convoy, resulting in injuries to three soldiers, on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in south Kashmir on Monday afternoon.
Official sources told UNI that militant attacked an Army convoy, which was on way from Jammu to Srinagar, at Bonigam at Qazigund this afternoon. “Three soldiers were injured in the attack. The injured were rushed to a hospital,” they said.
After the attack, they said the militants tried to escape from the spot but were trapped inside a nearby school. However, when militants were asked to surrender, they opened fired at security forces.
The security forces retaliated ensuing in an encounter, they said, adding additional security forces were rushed and the area has been sealed to foil any attempt from militants to escape. UNI
