Delhi, Dec 16: To clamp down pesky calls and Short Message Service,
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) will come out with fresh
guidelines by January 15.
Stating this here on Saturday, the telecom regulator Chief R
S Sharma said by the use of technology such calls and SMS can be controlled to
a large extent.“We have got a lot of responses, especially from technology companies. If technology is used, we will be able to control the problem to a large extent," Mr Sharma said.
The issue was discussed with stakeholders here on Saturday, TRAI said.
Last year, TRAI had launched ‘DND (Do Not Disturb) services’ mobile application for managing unsolicited commercial communications (UCC). UNI
