New Delhi, Dec 16: Hemraj's wife, Khumkala Banjade, has moved the Supreme Court challenging the Allahabad High Court’s judgement against the acquittal of Dr Rajesh and Nupur Talwar in connection with their daughter, Aarushi's murder nine years ago.
It was unclear yet as to when the plea filed on Friday by Hemraj’s wife, Khumkala Banjade, would be taken up for hearing by the apex court.
The High Court had on October 12, 2017, acquitted Dr Rajesh and Nupur Talwar in the 2008 murder of their teenaged daughter Aarushi and their domestic help Hemraj.
Acquitting Talwars in their daughter's murder case, the HC had, said that they could not be held guilty on the basis of the evidence on record and circumstantial proof.
The Talwars were found guilty by a CBI court in Ghaziabad of Aarushi's murder.
A division bench of the Allahabad High Court, comprising Justices BK Narayana and AK Mishra, had allowed the appeals filed by the Talwars against the November 26, 2013, Ghaziabad CBI court order sentencing them to life imprisonment.
Aarushi was found dead inside her room with her throat slit on May, 16, 2008, in the Talwars’ Noida residence . The needle of suspicion had initially moved towards 45-year-old Hemraj, who had gone missing but his body was recovered from the terrace of the house of Talwars a day after Aarushi was found dead. UNI
