Islamabad, Dec 21: Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has asserted the government would complete its tenure and the next general elections would be held on time.
After performing the groundbreaking of Hyundai Nishat Motor (Pvt) Ltd’s Car Assembly Plant at M-3 Industrial City Faisalabad on Wednesday, Mr Abbasi said the threats are always there and he would allay the reservations of National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq.
Yesterday, the speaker had stated that he feared the assemblies would not be able to complete their tenure.
"The reservations the speaker has spoken of are in reference to the events of the last three to four months. He made this in reference to the July 28 order, which has impacted the economy and politics. Maybe it [Sadiq’s statement] is being taken out of context. This is his opinion,” Mr Abbasi was quoted as saying by a Pakistan daily The Express Tribune.
Outlining his government's achievements, the Prime Minister said, 'Six years back, Pakistan was facing instability but now the situation is far better, and foreign investors have been taking interest in making investment in Pakistan due to sincere efforts of the PML-N government.'
Mr Abbasi said the government had also completed a number of mega projects, including power generation units and motorways, whereas gas terminals were also being established in the country.
The government’s privatisation policy remained successful, and it had planned to provide all possible incentives and facilities to investors, he said, adding that the PML-N government did not raise hollow slogans but it really delivered by overcoming the prevalent issues, gas and power loadshedding in particular. UNI
