New Delhi, Dec 20: Terming the results of the Gujarat Assembly elections 'a wake-up call ' for the
BJP, party leader and Lok Sabha MP Shatrughan Sinha on Wednesday said the party
came through by the skin of its teeth.
'Our party came through by the skin of its teeth... Better
booth & other management was probably the key... A true wake up call...and
time for us to realise that there is no substitute to real & genuine
development of one and all... Long live BJP,' Mr Sinha said in a tweet.
In an apparent jibe at the BJP efforts for a 'Congress-mukt Bharat', Mr Sinha said, 'Far from becoming a Congress-mukt Bharat as many would like to shout from roof tops, there was almost the possibility of an upset right in the home base of our one man show & two man Army... This was a real touch & go election because we hear that in 16 seats of Gujarat, Congress lost by less than 3000 votes.'
The Gujarat Assembly election saw the BJP being reduced to 99 in the state, it's lowest tally since 1995.
The Congress gave a tough fight to the BJP, winning 80 seats, an increase of 19 from its tally in 2012. UNI
