| Reiterates Govt’s commitment for providing quality education to students |
RAJOURI, DECEMBER 16 - Minister for Animal,
Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Abdul Ghani Kohli today laid the foundation of
Government Degree College, Kalakote.
The Phase I of the Institute would be
completed at the estimated cost of Rs 6 crore by JK Housing Board.
Reiterating government’s commitment to
provide quality education to the students, the Minister said numerous measures
have been taken to improve the standard of education and initiatives are afoot
to develop infrastructure in all educational institutions of the state. The
government has taken up the mission of development and is committed for
equitable development of all three regions of the state, he added.
The Minister also inspected the
premises of the College and directed the concerned executing agency to speed up
the pace of work on the project and complete it in a time bound manner.
Referring to developmental works
under execution in Kalakote, the Minister said the construction work on various
projects are apace and will change the socio-economic condition of the people.
On the occasion, the Minister said
the students of the area were facing lot of difficulties in attaining higher
education but the establishment of the College will now provide them avenues of
learning.
Later, the Minister also convened a
public meeting in which the locals put forth their demands and problems. After
hearing their demands, the Minister assured for early redressal of their
demands and said the government is taking one step after the other for the
welfare of the common masses and special stress is being laid on upliftment of
poor, women, youth, farmers, border people and downtrodden sections of the
society.
He appealed the people to take
benefit of various welfare schemes including Ladli Beti, AASRA, State Marriage
Assistance Scheme and other financial assistance schemes being implemented by
both state and central governments.
