New
Delhi, Dec 27: The Lok Sabha on Wednesday underwent four adjournments,
during the Question Hour, Zero Hour, and twice in the post-lunch session as the
Congress and TRS members created disruptions in the House on two issues.
The last adjournment happened for only 15 minutes at the
request of N K Premachandran of the RSP, who wanted to move a statutory
resolution over the The Goods and Services Tax ( Compensation to States)
Amendment Bill, 2017 which Finance Minister Arun Jaitley proposed to move.Underlining that the matter was very serious, the RSP Member urged the Speaker to bring order in the House which was witnessing uproar as the Congress staged protest in the Well of the House against the reported remarks made by Union Minister A K Hegde over changing the Constitution, and the TRS members raised the demand for setting up the High Court in Telangana.
Mr Premachandran said it would be better if the Speaker suspended the proceedings for half an hour to talk to the protesting parties so that the Bill could be discussed.
'GST is very important. We want to highlight its impact,' he said.
The Speaker first requested the slogan shouting TRS and Congress members to go back to their seats and remarked that first they complained that the winter session was not being held but now that the session was on, they were not interested in the discussion.
However, as the Members continued their protest, she adjourned the House for 15 minutes.
