New Delhi, Dec 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday had a kick-start to BJP’s celebrations of win in the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly elections by flashing a victory sign as he came to attend the Parliament session here.
The trends of the counting of votes were fairly clear about the party’s win by 1100 hrs when the both Houses met for the second day of the winter session, and the joy was visible on Mr Modi’s face as he waved victory to the mediapersons and others present in Parliament premises.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also hailed the party’s "clear victory" , saying the results showed that the people had endorsed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's programmes and policies.
"Of course it is," Mr Singh told reporters here when asked whether election results in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh were clear hint about people's endorsement to Mr Modi's performance.
"We are confident of winning elections in both the states and we will form government(s) with clear majority in both Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat," Mr Singh said.
The BJP would be returning to power in Himachal Pradesh after a gap of five years, and in Gujarat, the saffron party will be forming government for the sixth consecutive term. UNI
