New Delhi, Dec 28: Condemning Minister of State for skill development Anant Kumar Hegde's comment
regarding the Constitution, senior Congress leaders along with party president
Rahul Gandhi on Thursday staged a protest in the Parliament premises near
Mahatma Gandhi's statue, demanding the minister's resignation.
Congress leaders including Ghulam Nabi Azad,
Mallikarjun Kharge and others led by Rahul Gandhi raised slogans demanding
protection of the sanctity of the country and Constitution.
The protestors also also raised slogans demanding the resignation of the concerned minister.
'Disrespect to the Constitution will not be tolerated by the country, stop attacking the Constitution, stop breaking up the country,' said the protestors.
They also held banners with their demands written on it during the protest.
Mr Hegde has earned widespread criticism from various quarters after he made a comment on 'seculars' at a public function in Karnataka's Koppal district last week.
"Seculars do not know what their blood is. Yes, Constitution has given that right to say 'we are secular and we will say it'. Yes, I know but the Constitution has been amended many times, we (the BJP) will also amend it,' he reportedly had said. UNI
