Lucknow, Dec 25: Elated over the victory of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) candidate Ajit Pal in Sikandara (Kanpur Rural) Assembly by-election, state party president Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey said it was victory of the policies of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The victory is a reflection of party’s commitment towards ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas’. People voted for BJP because they believed in the policies of the NDA Government at the Centre and BJP government in the state,” Dr Pandey said in a statement issued here.
Ajit Pal defeated his nearest Samajwadi party candidate Seema Sachchan by a margin of over 11,000 votes. The election was necessitated by the death of Ajit’s father Mathura Prasad Pal.
The BJP leader said the state was galloping on the path of progress under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath and law and order situation had improved.
Farmers have been given relief by crop loan waivers and the government has initiated the process to purchase wheat and paddy directly from the farmers, he added.
“Besides, the infrastructure has got a boost and electric supply has increased. The villages, tehsils and district headquarters are getting electricity as per the roster. This improvement will help improve the investment scenario in the state,” he said.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders thanked the chief minister for leading the campaign in Sikandara. Party’s general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak, who was also in-charge of Sikandara by-election campaign, congratulated Yogi with a rose.
“Yogi ji led the campaign and guided us from time to time,” Pathak said. UNI
