New Delhi, Dec 4: The BJP on Monday reacted to Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's filing nomination for Congress president's post saying it was indicative of party president Sonia Gandhi's anxiety to get him elevated before facing the defeats.
"They are in a hurry to elevate Mr Gandhi before the results of the Gujarat elections because there would be no justification for rewarding a person for losing heavily in the polls," national spokesperson of BJP, GVL Narasimha Rao said here.
Mr Gandhi on Monday filed his nomination for the post of party president and for his elevation to the top post. Senior party leaders Manmohan Singh, Oscar Fernandes and Sushil Kumar Shinde were present on the occasion.
The schedule for the election of the Congress president was approved on November 20 by the Congress Working Committee, the highest decision making body of the party.
Several sets of nomination papers were filed by several state Congress presidents and Congress Chief Ministers who arrived in Delhi on Sunday. Today is the last day of filing of nomination for the post. UNI
