Delhi, Dec 19: What is e-cigarette? Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu
asked the Minister for Health and Family Welfare during the Question Hour on
Thursday.
The issue under discussion was whether the government had
issued an advisory to state governments on the health risks of e-smoking which
includes e-cigarettes, nicotine and flavoured hookah. On the Chair’s query, Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda said (e) electronic-cigarette was a product that comes in a capsule form which, on warming, emits vapours that are inhaled (by the user).
``This is without tobacco,’’ he added.
Earlier Mr. Nadda said the government was studying the legal implications, effect on health and efficacy of electronic-smoking before issuing an advisory.
He, however, said that the steps taken by government against smoking under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act had reduced smoking in public. UNI
