KATHUA, JANUARY 19: In Continuation with its public outreach programme, the two day legal awareness programme  organized by J&K State Commission for Women in association with the National Commission for Women New Delhi concluded today at Degree College.
The objective of the programme was to create awareness among the females about various legal provisions and safeguards being provided to them under the constitution.
On the 2nd day of the programme, the resources persons who spoke on the occasion included Professor Indu Kilm and Dr. Roshan Ara who threw light on various women related issues like harassment of females at work place and social status of women.
Speaking on the occasion, Nayeema Ahmad Mahjoor stressed upon the need to uphold the honor and dignity of women adding that empowerment of women should start from their homes and families. She asserted that education holds the key towards empowerment of women. She said that such programmes are aimed at spreading awakening among the participants about various laws constituted for safety of women.
The programme concluded with an interaction session in which the participants evinced lot of interest and raised many questions regarding various gender issues as well as about the role of the Commission.

Among others Principal Government Degree College Kathua, District Social Welfare Officer, Deputy Chief Medical Officer were also present on the occasion.
