SHOPIAN, JANUARY 20: - Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Mohammad Aijaz today convened a meeting to review the functioning of Revenue Department in the district.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue, besides all Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars and Girdawars of the district attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed the progress of writing of Jamabandies, Girdawaries, Attestations of pending mutations, Amadaramad, distribution of passbooks, record position of revenue targets, removal of encroachments from Kachchari/State land, revenue court cases and land acquired by various Departments.
It was given out that 46 Jamabandies have been completed and 20 are under process, so far. Girdawari writing of 116 villages has been completed and of 20 villages are under process. The DC directed the Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, Girdawars to conduct village wise visit and submit the weekly progress report for the same to the district administration.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Revenue officers to hold Public Service Guarantee Act camps to ensure delivery of public services and redressal of all grievances in a time bound manner.
Further, he asked the field agencies to tour their respective areas for redressal of the grievances of the general public with regard to revenue related matters. The DC was briefed about the status of revenue records mutations, settlements operator, removal of encroachments, land acquisition and relief and rehabilitation measures. On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the Revenue officials to work with added zeal and enthusiasm. He said that the Department holds the key for efficient and effective grievance redressal adding that a total commitment is required to achieve the set administrative targets. Laying special emphasis on implementation of Public Service Guarantee Act and Right to Information Act in letter and spirit, the DC directed the concerned officers to maintain a proper record of applications received and disposed thereof.
The meeting was informed that demolition drive against encroachments in district Shopian, the district administration has retrieved 1900 kanals of Kachchari/State land from the illegal occupation of land grabbers in the district  since October 2017.
