Shopian Bijbehara roadworks, parking sites
SHOPIAN, JANUARY
20: District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz today conducted an
on-spot inspection of various developmental projects including the widening
of Shopian Bijbhera road under progress at a cost of 48 crore rupees.
The DDC
accompanied by Executive Engineer R&B and other officers reviewed the
progress on developmental works at different locations apart from space for a
park in Shopian Town.
The DDC inspected
the work started on Shopian Bijbehara road from Habdipora, which has been
targeted to be completed up to a fair-weather stage, in shortest possible time.
It will be followed by upgradation to blacktopping by PWD at an estimated cost
of Rs 4893.20 lacs and the total length of the project is 25 km. An estimated
amount of Rs 2 crore will be spent on the project which is being executed under
convergence of BADP, CapEx and Constituency Development Fund.
DDC directed
officers of Revenue Department to resolve any land related issues so that
R&B can take up immediate steps aimed at the widening of the road and
construction of an alternate road for decongestion of traffic. Directions were
also issued for the removal of illegal structures along the road which are
hindering the progress of widening of the road.
Officers from various departments were directed
for improvement in civic amenities in town and creation of parking facilities
at available locations.
