JAMMU, JAN 15: Taekwondo Association of Jammu and Kashmir under the banner of Taekwondo Federation of India, Lucknow led by its State President & BJP State Additional Treasurer, Arvind Gupta in the presence of BJP State Vice-President Parmod Kapahi held a Press Conference at Press Club elaborating about the recent achievement of State Taekwondo Team, who has brought laurels to the State at the National Championship held at Lucknow.
While addressing, Arvind Gupta said that the 37th official National Taekwondo championship 2017/18 held at Kolkata from 8th January 2018 to 10th January 2018, venue (Eden Gardan Kshudi Ram Anushilan Kendra Stadium) under the banner of Taekwondo Federation of India (Lucknow). In this championship 37 players from J&K participated in this championship and got 19 Medals under different weight categories.
While giving details of the feast, Gupta said that in the National Competition of Khyorigi/Poomse (pee Wee/Sub-Junior/Junior/Senior) out of these gold medallist girls are Antriksha Rekhi, Komal Dhiman, Vidushi Verma, Laxmi Salaria. Silver medallist girls are Palak Dhiman, Arunakshi Sharma, Bronze medallist girls are Khushi Sharma, Aaditi Arora, Rishika Bhat.
Gold Medallist boys are Devank Sharma, Karan Chopra, Rajat. Silver medallist boys are Samaksh Sharma, Kartik Sharma. Bronze Medallist boys are Karanjeet Singh, Atul Manhas, Surya Krish, Rahul Magotra, Aman Sharma.

Arvind Gupta, while putting light on the history of the game said that this is the National game of South Korea and was first demonstrated in the Olympics in 1988 followed by its introduction in Olympics in 2000. He said that it has around 70 million participants around the globe and presently proudly hoards the strength of 4 million Black Belts. He said that it has 4 categories of men and women i.e. 67-above 80 and 47-67 respectively. He also said that J&K team has got great achievement and he also said that 2018 open National Championship will held in Jammu (J&K), while requesting the State Government to consider for its introduction in whole of Jammu & Kashmir at a greater level and particularly for girls as it happens to be a great weapon for self protection as well.
