Reviews tourism-related courses taught in institute under skill

SRINAGAR, JANUARY 1:
Minister for Tourism, Tassaduq Hussain Mufti today directed the Institution of
Hotel Management (IHM), Rajbagh to upgrade the syllabus for Tourist Facilitator
programme on the contemporary lines and asked them to improve the standard of
teaching.
He said this during the meeting convened to review the
tourism-related training programmes taught at IHM, which includes Tourist
Facilitator, Landscaping and Gardening. The meeting was attended by Director
Tourism, Mehmood Ahmad Shah and Incharge IHM, Qazi Shabir.
Tassaduq Hussain said that the syllabus for the tourism-related
courses taught in IHM needs to be refined and updated. He asked Director
Tourism to take part in the formulation of new curriculum and asked for coming
up with a new syllabus at an earliest.
He said the students should be groomed in such a way that they
get lot of job opportunities after completion of the training. These training
programmes should help in boosting the level of confidence so that they can
easily compete in the present times, he said.
On the occasion, the Minister was informed that the institution
has started tourism-related courses including Tourist Facilitator, Landscaping
and Gardening from May 2017. So far 1752 candidates have completed their
training and 263 candidates are currently undergoing training and are likely to
complete their courses by February 2018.
Later,
the Minister met students and also listened to their grievances and also
assured that the necessary steps will be taken for the timely redressal of
their problems. He asked the students to fine tune their skills keeping in view
the competitive times and assured to look into their demands on merit basis.
