Panaji, Jan 13: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Shantaram Naik on Saturday demanded that the criminal case in which Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Amit Shah was one of the accused should be re-opened in view of the press conference held by the four judges of the Supreme Court in the national capital on Friday.
In a statement here, he also demanded that the case relating to the death of Brijgopal Harkishen Loya, Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) judge, in suspicious circumstances in Nagpur should be re-visited.
Mr Naik pointed out that the judge who took over the case, subsequently, within 29 days of the death of judge Loya, discharged Mr Shah from the case, accepting an application filed by him.
'Inspite of the fact that a serious charge was made against the CBI, the agency did not file appeal against the same. Family members of judge Loya were scared of making any statement for fear of their lives,' Mr Naik said.
'Unlike the views expressed by some senior lawyers, I feel that every action of the Supreme Court, administrative or otherwise, is justiciable and, if it is held that the procedure prescribed for the allotment of cases cannot be questioned in Parliament, then, how is that cases decided by the Government, exercising its executive powers, are admitted by the Supreme Court?,' he asked. UNI
