New Delhi, Jan 3: Former Defence Minister and Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday demanded that the Indian army should be given
"free hand" to give befitting reply to the enemies along the borders.
Raising the issue of frequent attacks on army and security
personnel along the borders, especially in Jammu and Kashmir, Mr Yadav said during Zero Hour in the Lok
Sabha that it was "sad" that brave Indian soldiers were being
attacked and were facing deaths regularly.
"During my time, we did not allow all this. Even Atal Behari Vajpayee and others have complimented me in this House for our firm stand," he said adding "during our time, we had permitted a free hand to our men to give befitting reply".
He was supported by party colleague Dharmendra Yadav and both the Samajwadi Party leaders insisted that there should be a government response on the same.
Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, however, said she cannot compel a response from the government during Zero Hour. UNI
