KUPWARA, JANUARY 19: The District
Development Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir today convened a meeting of
CDPOs of the District to review the overall performance of ICDS programmes.
A detailed power point presentation was
made by the officers of ICDs highlighting the achievements recorded during the
current financial year.
The DDC impressed upon the concerned
CDPOs to vibrantly undertake activities including pre-schooling in the AWCs and
that the AWC be made focal point for providing envisaged services to the
children, pregnant women and adolescent girls.
Instructions were given to the
concerned CDPOs to implement Beti Bacho Beti Padao scheme in a focused and
concerted way so that the derived objections are achieved. He called for
empowering innovation method like mass multi-media, street plays, print
material etc to generate awareness amongst populace about the importance of
girl child.
The DDC also urged to dovetail the
SABLA scheme with NRLM so that self-help groups of adolescent girls are formed
for promoting income-generating activities. He also called upon the
functionaries of ICDS to work in coordination with the health department for
making available Iron and folic acid supplementation and sanitary napkins to
young adolescent girls in rural areas for improving their health and hygiene.
He also directed to create awareness
among the general public about various schemes of child development, health
tips for adolescent girls through utilizing the latest methods of information
technology at village and block level.
During the meeting several issues and
demands were discussed thread barely, the DDC assured the CDPOs that all the
genuine matters would be taken up with the higher authorities for early
redressal in due course of time. He also instructed the concerned CDPOs for
execution of AWCs in collaboration with RDD under convergence mode for this
detailed project report was sought from the concerned CDPOs.
