SHOPIAN, JANUARY 16:
To review the arrangements for ensuing Republic Day- 2018 celebrations, a
meeting was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner
Shopian, Mohammad Aijaz here today.
Senior Superintendent of Police
Shopian, Shriram Ambarkar,
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Parvaiz Sajad Ganie, Sub-Divisional Magistrate,
Zainapora, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Chief Planning Officer, Executive
Engineers of R&B, PHE, IEM&RE, REW, senior civil and police officers,
besides all district and sectoral officers and other concerned officers were present
in the meeting.
The meeting was informed that the
main function would be organized at District Police lines Shopian where the
flag hoisting ceremony would be held followed by March past and other
programmes.
DDC exhorted upon all agencies to
ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place well in time for the
smooth and successful celebration of the Republic Day.
He directed the Police and Traffic
authorities to make elaborate security and traffic arrangements so that general
public reaches to the venue hassle-free.
He asked the Municipal Committee to ensure sanitation and cleanliness of the
venue besides establishment of a sufficient number of mobile toilets. He asked
the Information Department to ensure wide publicity of the event through print
and electronic media.
Youth Services and Sports Department
was asked to furnish a list of participating contingents including school
children and number of buses needed for their transportation.
The meeting was informed that full
dress rehearsal shall be held on 24th January at District Police
Lines Shopian.
Similarly, PHE and PDD Departments
were asked to ensure availability of safe drinking water and uninterrupted
power supply.
Health and Fire Services was directed to make available the sufficient number
of ambulances and fire tenders at the venue. PDD officials were asked to ensure
illumination of government buildings.
ATRO were asked to ensure a sufficient number of vehicles for transportation of
school children.
On the occasion, DDC directed the
Mechanical, R&B and Municipal Committee to deploy adequate men and machinery so
that all the main raods including the main venue can be cleared in case of
snowfall.
Meanwhile, committees were also
constituted to finalize the selection of cultural items and programmes for the
Republic Day function.
It was also given out that similar
functions will be held at Sub Division Zainapora besides also at Tehsil
headquarters of the district.
