Doctors release corpse without postmortem, police sends it for postmortem

Ambassa, Jan 10: The doctors released a corpse from the district hospital without postmortem and police seized the corpse from crematorium and sent it for postmortem, in the northern district of Dhalai here yesterday.

On Monday last one Anil Malakar was hit by a motorbike and was admitted in a local hospital. From there, he was referred to the District Hospital where he died on Tuesday morning. However, the doctors released the corpse without postmortem. As the matter of accident was lodged with police, postmortem was needed. Hence, Police took the body from the crematorium and sent to the District Hospital for postmortem again.
This created much resentment among the local people against the lack of responsibility shown by the doctors. UNI
