‘Dayalachak Amb-Chalan-Udhampur road to be declared National Highway’
JAMMU, JANUARY 19: Minister
for Public Works Naeem Akhtar today informed the Legislative Council that the
Centre has agreed to declare Dayalachak Amb-Chalan-Udhampur road as new
National Highway.
Replying to a question of Legislator Thakur Balbir Singh, the Minister
informed that DPR for the project would be completed in next four months and
the government would maintain the road for smooth traffic movement till the
actual work is started.
Replying to another question of Legislator Aga Syed Mahmood Mosavi, the Minister
said that the DPR for the four-laning of 6km long Humhuma-Budgam road has been
formulated at an estimated cost of Rs. 40.35 crore, adding that, Rs. 34.41
crore is required for acquisition of structures and land.
Legislator Vikram Randhawa raised supplementary question related to the
maintenance of road leading to famous Bawewali Mata Shrine in Bahu Fort area.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Public Works Sunil Kumar Sharma,
replying to a question of Legislator Naresh Kumar Gupta, informed that 87.65 km
road length has been macadamized in Bhaderwah and Doda in the last three years
on which Rs 20.54 crore has been expended. The left over work would be
completed during 2018-19, he added.
Meanwhile, intervening during the reply, Naeem Akhtar said that the slow
pace of work is due to the non-availability of hot mixing plants and crushers in the
Chenab Valley. “To overcome the problem mobile hot mixing plants have been
installed in the region to expedite the pace of remaining works” he added.
