Jan 10: Four bogies of a MEMU train were completely damaged when fire
broke out in the bogies at Mokama railway station on Patna-Jhajha section of
Danapur division in East Central Railway (ECR) in the district in the wee hours
today.
Chief Public Relations Officer (ECR) Rajesh Kumar said here
that four empty bogies of 63218 Danapur-Mokama caught fire when the train
halted in line number 11 at Mokama station. He said that nobody was injured in
the mishap.Mr Kumar said that the train had arrived Mokama at 22.28 hours, and at 0115 hours, information was received about fire in two coaches, the fifth and the sixth from Howrah (HWH) end. Immediately, Mokama station staff along with RPF and GRP rushed to the site and started dousing the fire with fire extinguishers and brought the fire under control.
CPRO said that fire brigade from Barh ( nearly 30 kms away) was also called.
Meanwhile, fire spread to adjoining two more coaches. He said that remaining 12 coaches of the train were separated by the alert Staff.
Mr Kumar said that fire brigade from Barh reached Mokama and completely extinguished the fire at 0330 hrs. During this whole incident there was no disruption in train operations. Both, UP and DN movement was normal. He said that prima facie, it appears to be the activity of miscreants.
ADRM (Operations), Danapur AK Rajak along with senior officials of Danapur rushed to the site immediately and are camping in Mokama. Chief Safety Officer SK Sharma along with other senior officials of Hq, Hajipur have also reached the spot.
A high level probe has been ordered to ascertain the exact reason of the mishap. UNI
