Jammu,
Jan 10: Leader of Opposition Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that the PDP-BJP
Government in Jammu & Kashmir had no right to remain in chair, if they felt
that civilian killings were not an issue to be discussed in the House.
"If the government thinks that civilian killing is not
an issue then I feel that this government has no right to remain in
chair," Mr Abdullah told reporters outside the Legislative Assembly. He said, "in my government when such incidents happen, I know how I used to feel but i never said that it was not an issue."
The former Chief Minister said that the opposition was expecting the Chief Minister to say a few words on the civilian killings in the House as she is also the chairperson of the Unified Command.
"She came to the House only when I made a point but by that time it was too late," said Mr Abdullah, adding that he would boycott Chief Minister's speech on Motion of Thanks on Governor's Address in the House.
"This is the second week of this year and you can see number of civilians killed and also the security forces," he said.
On a question that BJP had said that anybody picks up the gun will meet the same fate, Mr Abdullah said, "was the man killed on Tuesday, carrying a gun? Was he a terrorist?"
"The Minister has himself claimed in the House that the civilian killed in the firing was innocent," he added and said he suffered a bullet injury in his neck, what does it indicates, he asked. "There is no normalcy restored. It has further worsened," said the NC leader. UNI
