Jammu records season's coldest night at 2.7 degrees, fog hits normal life

Jammu, Jan 4: Jammu on Thursday recorded season's coldest night at 2.7 degree celsius while dense fog affected normal life.

"Jammu on Thursday recorded the coldest night of the season at 2.7 degrees Celsius," a MeT official here said.
He said that chill and cold wave has intensified further in Jammu, adding, "there is no immediate relief in sight for at least another two to three days due to dense fog and cold wave conditions."
Meanwhile an official at the Jammu Airport said that fog led to poor visibility due to which flight operation got disrupted and around five flights were also cancelled.
"The departure and arrival of flights remained hit due to fog," he added.
Meanwhile train service also remained hit in view of fog.
Jammu and Kashmir Government has already announced winter vacations from January 1 to 12 in all government and private educational institutions.
In Jammu region, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi base camp town of Katra recorded 5 Degrees, Batote 2.1, Banihal minus 1.6, Bhaderwah minus 0.3 and Udhampur 1.3 degrees Celsius. UNI
