Kolkata, Jan 19: The 7th edition of Kolkata International
Children's Film Festival, set to begin today, will showcase films from 32
countries.
The festival will continue till January
27. Child actor Kusmit Gill (of Sniff) and the two child actors Noor Islam and Samiul Islam (of Sahaj Pather Goppo) will inaugurate the festival. ‘Sniff’ will be the inaugural film.
Adventure is the theme of this year’s festival. 200 films from 32 nations will be screened.
Some of the films to be screened include: Coco, Boss Baby, Jumanji, Amazon Obhijaan, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea, Toy Story 3.
A new section this year is “Celebrity Choice”. Favourite films of famous personalities – Sandip Ray, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Shirshendu Mukherjee, Gautam Ghose, Lopamudra Mitra and others – will be screened. Tributes will be paid to Shashi Kapoor and Partha
Mukhopadhyay. There will be exhibitions on Feluda and Satyajit Ray.
The films will be screened at Nandan 1, 2, 3, Rabindra Sadan, Nazrul Tirtha, Star Theatre, Ahindra Mancha. Cultural performances will be held at Rabindra Sadan.
Quiz competition for children will be held on January 23. The closing film of the festival is ‘Feluda: Fifty Years of Ray’s Detective’ directed by Sagnik Chatterjee. UNI
