Srinagar, Jan 22: Life returned to normal on Monday in the Shehar-e-Khas (SeK), downtown and Civil Lines, where authorities had imposed restrictions on Sunday morning following a strike called by separatists observing it as 'death anniversary' of about 50 people in alleged security force firing at Gaw Kadal in 1990.
The gates of historic Jamia Masjid, which were closed yesterday due to restrictions, are open for devotees. 
Additional security forces deployed in the area have been witnessed.
District Magistrate, Srinagar, had imposed restrictions under Section 144 CrPC since early Sunday in the areas under the jurisdiction of police stations Khanyar, Nowhatta, Safakadal, M R Gunj and Rainawari in the downtown and SeK in Srinagar. 
“Restrictions had also been imposed in Maisuma in the Civil Lines and Kralkhud in the old city.
Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprising of both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) and JKLF, had called for a strike in Lal Chowk, the nerve center of the summer capital, Srinagar, against the Gaw Kadal killings.
Nakas and road blocks on main Nallahmar road from Nawakadal to Khanyar were also removed with barbed wire. 
Shops and business establishments reopened and traffic was plying normally on all routes. Business activities also resumed in the Jamia Market.
All roads leading to Maisuma in the Civil Lines, which were closed yesterday, are open today. UNI
