New Delhi, Jan 6: Delhi Congress on Saturday filed a complaint with Election Commission,
demanding rejection of Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha candidate N D Gupta's
nomination for the polls to the Upper House for allegedly holding office of
profit here.
Objecting to the scrutiny of the AAP RS candidate, a Delhi
Congress delegation led by DPCC president Ajay Maken reached EC office at
Daryaganj, and informed that Mr Gupta, who at present allegedly holds the
Office of Profit as Trustee National Pension Scheme was not eligible for the
polls, as per the Constitution.
According to the representation given by Mr Maken, Mr Gupta's nomination shall be rejected under Section 36 of Representation of People Act read with article 102, as the person holds an Office of Profit.
Mr Gupta who was appointed the trustee of NPS trust on March 30 2015, still holds the post till date, the complaint said.
Mr Maken raised questions over Mr Gupta's candidature alleging that he was a BJP supporter and was close to senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley and was being fielded by the AAP for the RS seat. UNI
