Members raise issues of public importance

JAMMU, JANUARY 19: Several members today raised issues of public importance during Zero Hour in Legislative Council and sought government’s intervention for their early redress.

Vibodh Gupta sought government’s focused attention on development of tourism sector in Rajouri district. He demanded resumption of work on hanging garden being developed in the area, which he said, would become a main attraction to lure maximum tourists, help to boost local economy and generate employment avenues. He advocated that more JKTDC hotel and restaurant units be opened to facilitate the tourists. 

Naresh Kumar drew the attention of the government towards the situation arisen due to disruption of road works by the land owners to   protest non payment of compensation.  He demanded immediate release of the compensation to the land owners to resume the work.

Ghulam Nabi Monga demanded clearance of payment of suppliers of MGNREGA material in Uri and Bonyar Blocks, pending for last two years. 

Sofi Mohammad Yousuf while referring to uploading of fake list of casual labours on internet, sought identification of the person and strict action against the culprit.

GL Raina demanded release of leave salary to Kashmiri Migrants after their retirement on pattern of other employees. He also advocated for restoration of RBA category certificates for migrants. 

Sham Lal Baghat urged the government to allow the vendors at Ramgharh on Batote Kishtwar Highway to continue their business and earn livelihood as they have been evicted by the local administration.  

Surinder Kumar Choudhary advocated to appoint Rehber e Pashu Palan on the pattern of Rehber -e- Taleem and Rehber -e -Zeraat, to avail the services of BVSC trained professionals.  

Pardeep Sharma demanded retrieval of the encroached land in his area, demolition of the illegal construction and to utilize the same for construction of public assets like hospitals, schools, playfields etc.

Ramesh Arora stressed on the need to create avenues for the promotion of Urdu by introducing the language at primary level in schools in Jammu Province. He demanded to engage Urdu teachers for this purpose.

Yasir Reshi called for stringent measures to control drug menace in the state. He said that license of those medical shops should be cancelled who were found selling banned drugs.

Vikram Randhawa demanded lifting of ban on extraction of sand and boulders in river Tawi which according to him simultaneously help dredging of the river and provide livelihood to many people.

Firdous Ahmad Tak: drew the attention of the Government towards delay in the phase 2^nd works on different PMGSY road projects   in Chenab valley. He called for immediate start of work to prevent erosion due to landslides.   

Charanjeet Singh drew the attention of the government towards prolonged delay in the start of work on Sardar Bana Singh Stadium at RS Pura, which according to him is pending since 1988.

Qaiser Jamsheed Lone demanded more government advertisement support to the small and medium newspapers. He said such papers are facing financial crisis while running their establishments. He also demanded filling of Dental Surgeon vacancies in the state hospitals to facilitate patients.

Mohammad Muzzfar Paray sought both side widening of   Haigam- Sopore road and informed that presently the work is going on one side only.

Khursheed Aalam called for making the loan borrowing process easier for unemployed youth for opening new start-ups.  He demanded for dropping of the condition of providing guarantee of a government employee by the loan seeker.
