New Delhi/Mumbai, Jan 19: Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who left for home on Friday after his first state visit, marked by great optics and huge compliments, has a word of advice for Indian business: never stop competing, because competition benefits all.
"Competition never ends. It never ends," he said. "My message to you is: Never stop competing because competition benefits us all. It's what allows the development of the most cutting edge technology at the lowest price."
Interacting with CEOs in Mumbai a day before, he told them not to rest on their laurels. "Now I know that you think, well, you know if you establish enough market share you can rest, It will be over. It's never over. Even the giants now in the information world that are capturing the world, if they think it's over- they're over. Because you'll have destructive technology, you'll have something new coming in and taking even the giants down.
"So we have to organise our national economies in a way that makes it profitable, makes it possible and makes it easy to compete and innovate," he said, according a note issued by the prime minister's media advisor.
He called for cooperation between talents of India and Israel, and said a direct air connect -- of the kind between Israel and Silicon Valley and between Israel and China -- between the two countries is enormously important to build value, create innovation and joint business opportunities.
"There is a deep and abiding respect for India, for the people of India, for the culture of India" in Israel, he said, adding the Israel-India partnership is made in heaven.
"Let us now consecrate it on earth."
Earlier meeting with a select group of Indian corporate leaders, Netanyahu urged them to invest in Israel where they could find advanced technological solutions in a variety of fields.
Netanyahu's trip to India was a reciprocal one after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's July visit to Israel
in celebration of the 25 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries. He had brought with him some 130 business leaders to India. Both countries are looking to engage on all fronts, beyond the military and diplomacy.
At an event "Shalom Bollywwod" in the evening, he interacted with the movers and shakers of the film industry and asked them shoot their films in different locations in Israel such as Haifa, Eilat and Masada, in addition to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
“Before PM Narendra Modi’s historic visit to Israel, just two weeks before, we passed in the government several resolutions cementing ties with India. One of them was about film, and we put forward a modest sum of 4 million shekels to begin with. And by the way, gentlemen, congratulations, you used up not all of it, there’s still some left.
"And I want to make a pledge tonight: if you come and you need more, we’ll put in more. We want Bollywood in Israel,” he said. UNI
