JAMMU, JANUARY 18: Minister
for PHE, I&FC, Sham Lal Choudhary today informed the Upper House that
construction of 1 Lac gallon Over Head Tank at Tarzoo Weir - Nigli Nallah has
been taken up under NRDWP at an estimated cost of Rs 7.86 crore and is likely
to be commissioned by June 2018.
The Minister while replying to a Calling Attention Notice by MLC,
Mohammad Muzaffar Parray informed the House that the construction work on Over
Head Tank (OHT) is in progress with good pace and 85% of the work has been
completed. He said OHT shall be made functional by end of June 2018, while the
remaining work on other components like intake works at stage 1st, Pre-Settling
tank, Floculator, Clear Water sump/ Pump House at Stage 2nd have been
completed.
He said the work on laying and fitting of main distribution system has
also been taken up for which the work for construction of 0.30 MGD Filtration
Plant has been put to tenders and execution work on this component shall also
be taken up in the hand very soon.
The Minister informed that an amount of Rs 2.84 crore was spent on the
scheme till ending March 2017. He said the allocation for the scheme
during the current financial year is Rs 50 lakh, of which an amount of Rs 29.15
lakh stands released and utilized till date. He said the scheme falls under
NRDWP (25-50%) category.
He informed that the scheme would provide potable drinking water
facility to six habitations namely Hygam, Chack Hygam, Panzipora Extension, Ali
Bagh, Hanjipora Amberpora Extension having a population of 13729 souls.
