New
Delhi, Jan 4: The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Board of Control
for Cricket in India to allow the Bihar state cricket team to participate in
the Ranji Trophy and other tournaments.
A bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and
also comprising Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud, issued the ruling
after hearing from the BCCI and Cricket Association of Jharkhand, Jamshedpur. BCCI had barred Bihar to participate in state level competitions, as the state body was not a full time member of the cricket board.
The three-judge bench, delivering the interim order, observed that it was in the interest of the game that Bihar be allowed to participate in cricket tournaments. UNI
