New
Delhi, Jan 10: The Supreme Court on Wednesday sought a detailed reply from
the central government after hearing a petition filed by Umadevi Kalburgi, wife
of the deceased author MM Kalburgi, seeking a Special Investigation Team (SIT)
probe into the murder of her husband in 2015.
A bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice of India
(CJI) Dipak Misra, also issued notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation
(CBI), National Investigation Agency (NIA), and states of Goa, Maharashtra and
Karnataka on her petition. Kalburgi's widow, Umadevi, told the apex court that a coordinated SIT probe was required into the murder of her husband. She said there is a similar pattern in the murders of her husband, Dhabolkar and Panasare and there has to be a coordinated probe into all the three cases.
Umadevi alleged that the same organisation and shooters were involved behind the murders of Kalburgi, Pansare and Dabholkar. UNI
